ASSURE fellows will have the opportunity to spend a half day shadowing a Washington University anesthesiologist (Rebecca Young, MD, Assistant Professor, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Washington University School of Medicine) in the operating room at St. Louis Children’s Hospital or Barnes-Jewish Hospital; this experience will help you gain a better understanding of what the day-to-day practice entails for a physician in the field of medicine. Clinical shadowing has become a component of many medical school applications as it helps provide early insight to guide individuals toward various careers and specialties.
