These talks will be held together with ENDURE students and will allow you to get an overview of various preclinical research work from WashU professors. You will also be able to network with other summer scholars participating in the ENDURE program. Lunch will be provided.

Daniel Castro, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology, principal investigator in the Biophotonics Research Center, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis

Dr. Castro’s research is focused on understanding how endogenous opioids regulate effect, motivation, and metabolism. The lab uses a variety of approaches, including optogenetics, genetic modulation, CRISPR knockdown, pharmacology, fiber photometry, and 1-photon imaging. Dr. Castro is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community and is involved with the OUTMed organization at Washington University.
